It was a real pleasure to be official photographers at Skipton Triathlon. Superbly organised event and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day.
Dare we say it, it was no-nonsense Yorkshire at its best: Even a tree falling in high winds didn’t phase the Freebird Events team!

Talking of the weather, we got a taste of everything on the day. High winds, driving rain, bright sunshine and a pleasant Spring evening. Only in this part of the world.
The triathlon had a great mix of people from first-time triathletes to the elites who ran later in the day and showed us their fancy kit. Not that we were jealous, much.
It was a long day for us photographers and we didn’t get any fitter by being glued to the same spot for 9 hours. But we did get to see a lot of fit people run/cycle past and at least one of us was inspired to do their first triathlon over the next year … or three. If that happens, Skipton would definitely be a candidate.
Winning male and female times for the 2013 Skipton Triathlon were: 1:00:49 for Mark Livesey and 1:09:16 for Emma Wolfe. Two great efforts on a day that wasn’t best suited for personal bests! Congrats to both triathletes and to everyone else who took part.

Special note should go to the team from Henshaws Community Housing in Harrogate who included visually impaired competitors in their team. It was inspirational to see them complete the course in such difficult conditions. They have a JustGiving page collecting for Henshaws Society for Blind People.
And if someone from Team Henshaw would like to contact us we’d be delighted to post some complimentary prints to the charity.
Well done everyone. Admirable, one and all.
