At the end of the day – and not the clichéd use of those six words – your arms are tired and your right elbow aches; something to do with the weight of the glass and body attached and how the limb contorts to move from portrait to landscape and back again. And back again.
You’ve focussed your eye and looked. Really looked. And when the other distractions disappear – because sometimes they take a while to melt away – your eye and your mind’s eye meet. Before long you’re already looking forward to the next event – despite the elbow – and the comforting sound of that shutter. Click.
There’s one other thing about the interaction. It’s an honest trade of skills and effort. Event photographers, event organisers, event guests and competitors – all working to make the event a success.
